Recruiter

    Geotech is currently seeking a Recruiter. The Recruiter is accountable for effective coordination, efficiency, quality and success of the company’s field level recruitment function.  The Recruiter sources qualified candidates to meet project requirements and helps place new employees in the division that best suits their skill set and past work experience.  The Recruiter strategically builds the labour pool in a professional manor while maintaining the flexibility to meet the ever-changing needs of a project-based organization.

    Recruiter Responsibilities:

    • Primary function of hiring Drillers, Drill Assistants and 5th Men for various programs in all regions Geotech operates. Works closely with HR Manager to develop position profiles and understand overall needs and requirements. (job descriptions, salaries, timing, expectations, etc.) 
    • Create and draft job postings, post to job boards and internal/ external gateways.
    • Work independently and/ or with selection teams to develop appropriate sourcing strategies for each role.
    • Educate candidates and relevant Geotech personnel on recruiting processes, roles and steps involved.
    • Use Applicant Processing System (APS) and innovative recruiting tools/ techniques, review and select candidates for interview, reference checks, administer drug and alcohol testing, etc.
    • Develop and use consultative relationships with candidates and managers.
    • Solicit and document candidate feedback throughout the interview process.
    • Disposition all candidates personally contacted in recruiting cycle (phone screen or higher manager interview).
    • Develop employment offers using Manager’s recommendation and/ or Geotech’s developed compensation range.
    • Maintain employee files as per Geotech’s administrative methods.
    • Miscellaneous projects and initiatives as required/requested.

    Qualifications:

    • 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
    • College Diploma or University Degree in HR or Business considered an asset.
    • Experience in an industrial recruitment setting, drilling being an asset.
    • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Works well under pressure and performs well within tight deadlines.
    • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
    • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask effectively.
    • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and other HRIS software.
    • Experience working in a project based working environment considered an asset.

    Reports to: Human Resources Manager

    Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm, 30-minute lunch. Schedule is flexible to accommodate personal commitments.

    Experienced Drill Assistant

      Geotech is seeking Experienced Drill Assistants for 2 major projects in Northwest BC and Nunavut. We run well maintained Zinex A5 and Hydracore 2000 drills that are booked through 2021. Competitive wages, bonus and consistent rotation. All travel covered with other perks. Preference will be given to applicants based in Western Canada.

      As a minimum Drill Assistants must:

      • Have at least 1 year experience on mineral exploration drilling programs;
      • Be physically capable of regular and repetitive lifts for 12+ hours per day;
      • Be willing to work day/night shift in all weather conditions;
      • Have experience working in remote locations for extended periods of time,
      • Have basic mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair small equipment,
      • Have a positive attitude, be self-motivated and the willingness to work hard, and;
      • Be able to pas a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

      Experienced Exploration Driller

        Geotech Drilling is currently seeking experienced Exploration Drillers for two major projects in Northwest BC and Nunavut.  We run well maintained Zinex A5 and Hydracore 2000 drills that are booked into 2021.         As a Driller at Geotech you must:

        • Have 5+ years’ experience exploration drilling;
        • Have experience with various coring methodologies;
        • Possess a valid Class 5/7 Driver’s License;
        • Be physically capable of regular and repetitive lifts;
        • Have mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair small equipment;
        • Have experience working in remote and/ or varied weather conditions for extended periods of time;
        • Have a positive attitude, be self-motivated and the willingness to work hard, and;
        • The ability to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test.

        Drill Assistant

        • Western and Northern Canada

          Geotech is seeking Drill Assistants for upcoming projects across Western and Northern Canada. We are looking for candidates based in the Western provinces or Northern territories. This is an excellent opportunity for you to grow your skills within the geotechnical, environmental and exploration drilling industries. Shifts are 3-4 weeks on, 1-2 weeks off. Training provided.

          Responsibilities include:

          • Handling drill rods, casing, core tubes and core samples
          • Loading/off-loading supplies
          • Handling tooling/consumables (sand, cement, bentonite)
          • Assisting the Driller, client and other team members where required

          As a minimum the Drill Assistant must:

          • 2+ years heavy labour experience with preference given to those with experience in exploration, geotechnical or environmental drilling;
          • Be physically capable of regular and repetitive lifts of 50-90lbs;
          • Be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and complete online courses;
          • Have Standard First Aid of the ability to travel to complete the course;
          • Have basic mechanical ability to help troubleshoot and repair small equipment, pumps and generators;
          • Have experience working in the field, in remote and/ or varied weather conditions for extended periods of time, and;
          • Have a positive attitude, be self-motivated and the willingness to work hard.
          • Valid Driver’s License is preferred.
