Geotechnical Driller

    Geotech is currently seeking an experienced Geotechnical Driller for projects in the Grande Prairie, AB area. The successful candidate will be an experienced geotechnical/environmental driller with a client focused attitude. They will be responsible for operating truck/track mounted geotechnical drill rigs as well as ancillary support equipment.  Projects vary in duration but most days will be 12+ hours with overtime paid at time and a half. Benefits and other perks offered.  This is a new division within the company with lots of opportunity to grow! 

    As a Driller at Geotech you must:

    • Have 5+ years’ experience geotechnical drilling;
    • Possess a Class 1 Driver’s License (preferred);
    • Be physically capable of regular and repetitive lifts;
    • Have mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair small equipment;
    • Have experience working in remote and/ or varied weather conditions for extended periods of time;
    • Be local to Grande Prairie, AB (or within an hour drive);
    • Have a positive attitude, be self-motivated and the willingness to work hard, and;
    • The ability to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test.

    Administrative Assistant

      Geotech is actively seeking a capable Administrative Assistant to join our Project Management team in Prince George, BC. The Administrative Assistant supports Managers within the infrastructure division that covers both geotechnical and environmental drilling disciplines. The Administrative Assistant is someone who exhibits superior time management, organizational skill and the willingness to problem solve when necessary.

      Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

      • Back up phone system management for all Geotech offices (Answering calls and directing them accordingly).
      • Workbook generation.
      • Assist with budget updates and forecasting.
      • Submittal management.
      • Work with Microsoft software to manage data and information related to project management functions.
      • Support multiple departments including Project Management and the Ownership Group with administrative support.
      • General filing, photocopying, scanning, and ordering supplies.
      • Additional administrative tasks and special projects as required.

      Qualifications:

      • Excellent customer service and organizational skills
      • 2+ years’ experience in a professional office environment or a combination of schooling (i.e., Office Administration Certificate) and experience

      Parts Person

        Geotech is seeking a motivated Parts Person (PP) to join our head office in Prince George. This exciting position is an integral part of the operations team and offers a diverse array of responsibilities. The main functions of the PP are the accurate, timely, and cost-effective purchasing of parts, materials and equipment for a busy drill rig mechanic shop.

        The PP is also responsible for placing designated purchase orders, and completing, tracking, distributing and filing the applicable documentation. The PP contacts designated suppliers for specific information and to arrange adjustments to invoices or modifications to original orders. The PP is responsible for responding to supplier/ vendor inquiries related to purchase orders such as status of order. The PP provides information on purchasing policies and procedures, records inquiry details and assists suppliers/ vendors where needed on related purchasing services.

        General duties include, but are not limited to:

        Purchasing:

        • Input data to complete requisitions.
        • Create and populate purchase orders, works with vendors to coordinate delivery based on project, time, and place.
        • Resolve errors on purchase orders as required.
        • Continuously liaise with vendors as required.
        • Monitor price increases and communicate changes as necessary.
        • Administer Vendor Management Inventory system and Tender Matrix.
        • Investigate and determine cause for materials that arrive incorrectly or that are misdirected.
        • Return unused items, cores and warranties as required.
        • Contact designated suppliers for specific information and to arrange adjustments to invoices and modifications to original orders.
        • Respond to vendor / supplier inquiries related to purchase orders.
        • Provide information to vendors on purchasing policies and procedures.
        • Work closely with entire management team and formally report to the Shop Manager on a regular basis to discuss successes and challenges in achieving objectives.
        • Strategically work with operations team on procurement policies and procedures.
        • Analyze incoming receipts to update vendor price files.

        Inventory Management:

        • Maintain and order stock of consumables, shop supplies and common parts for equipment.
        • Understand and manage required hydraulic stock (fittings, valves, motors, pumps, etc.).
        • Maintain, clean and organize all parts areas.
        • Receive inventory and store in appropriate areas.
        • Manage specific storage areas in lower yard.

        Ideally applicants will have:

        • 2+ years’ experience in a similar role. Ongoing training will be provided
        • Parts Person/Service Writer experience required
        • Ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
        • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
        • Strong problem-solving abilities.
        • Positive attitude and the ability to handle stress with professionalism.
        • Computer skills including understanding of Microsoft Excel.
        • Knowledge of the drilling industry strongly preferred.
        • Knowledge of hydraulics and heavy duty equipment would be a strong asset.

        Surface Exploration Drillers

          • Have 5+ years’ experience exploration drilling;
          • Have experience with various coring methodologies;
          • Possess a valid Class 5/7 Driver’s Licence;

          • Have mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair small equipment;
          • Have experience working in remote and/ or varied weather conditions for extended periods of time;

          Experienced Drill Assistants

            As a minimum Drill Assistants must:

            • Have at least 1 year experience on mineral exploration drilling programs;
            • Be physically capable of regular and repetitive lifts for 12+ hours per day;
            • Be willing to work day/night shift in all weather conditions;
            • Have experience working in remote locations for extended periods of time,
            • Have basic mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair small equipment,
            • Have a positive attitude, be self-motivated and the willingness to work hard, and;
            • Be able to pas a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

            Class 1 Lowbed Driver

              Geotech is seeking a motivated Class 1 Driver to join our head office team. This position is suited to someone who not only enjoys driving across the beautiful landscapes of Western Canada but also enjoys balance in their work. As we are a project based business with a diverse fleet of drill rigs and equipment, every day is different. The primary function is low bedding to drill programs on and off road but you will also help out in the yard and on site where required. This is NOT your typical driving job!

              Pay is based on experience. $30-33/hour + Overtime after 40 hrs a week. $150 LOA per night when in the truck sleeper. Other perks and benefits available.

              Ideally candidates will have experience in or ability to:

              • Professional driving (Class 1 vehicles with Air Brakes)
              • Loading and securing equipment and supplies for transport
              • On/off road low bed hauling across Western Canada
              • Filling out appropriate paperwork including inspections and logbooks
              • Operating hand-held tools and offloading equipment as required
              • Assisting Fleet and Operations staff as required
              • Adhering to all Geotech policies including the National Safety Code (NSC)

              Ideally applicants will have:

              • At least 3 years’ of successful Class 1 driving including off road/forestry road experience
              • Heavy equipment hauling and loading experience
              • Ability to organize work, make decisions, and set priorities
              • Strong knowledge of the NSC and documentation including the use of logbooks
              • Knowledge of the drilling industry considered an asset
              • An excellent driving record with references

              Sonic Driller

                Geotech is seeking an experienced Sonic Driller for geotechnical, hydrogeological and environmental projects throughout the lower mainland, all of British Columbia and into the territories. Our recently expanded sonic fleet requires competent staff to operate and maintain it. The successful candidate will be an experienced leader in the field, posses motivation to deliver a superior service and adhere to all H&S requirements and Provincial Legislation.                 As a Sonic Driller at Geotech you must:

                • Have 2+ years’ experience with sonic drilling;
                • Preferred experience with various other drilling methodologies, ODEX, mud/air rotary, Coring.
                • Possess a valid Class Driver’s Licence; (Class 3 or 1 preferred)
                • Be physically capable of regular and repetitive lifts;
                • Have mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair small equipment;
                • Have experience working in remote and/ or varied weather conditions for extended periods of time, and;
                • Have a positive attitude, be self-motivated and the willingness to work hard.
                • Be in the process or working towards ITA Geo Driller Certification (preferred).
