Geotech opened an operation centre in Burkina Faso, West Africa in late 2015, to serve the mining projects in the region. Geotech Afrique crews have completed over 29,000 meters of coring for Roxgold, a gold exploration and development company with a key asset in the Hounde greenstone region of Burkina Faso.

The first contract was a single drill and after a break due to mine construction, crews returned to site and drilled a total of 8,000 meters in 2015. Geotech Afrique drilled 21,000 meters with 2 drills on the property in 2016.

Geotech Afrique encourages and promotes the training and employment of West African based staff to create a sustainable and socially responsible business and to support growth.  Currently, Geotech Afrique employs 90% of its workforce from Burkina Faso.

Throughout this program one trailer mounted and one skid Zinex A5 drill rigs completed HQ coring techniques through the saprolite and NQ diamond coring methodology in more competent rock. Building on the success of 2015 and 2016, Geotech will be adding a third drill in 2017 at the request of the client.

Canadian drillers, foreman and mechanics are strategically dispatched to West Africa to ensure that appropriate training, sign offs and maintenance is being completed and advocated.
