Drill Assistant- Lower Mainland, BC

Geotech is seeking a motivated Drill Assistant for our Delta location. You will work directly with an experienced Driller on contracts around Vancouver, Vancouver Island and the Kootenay’s.  Responsibilities include handling drill rods, loading/off-loading supplies, preparing equipment for drilling programs and miscellaneous tasks at the shop.  This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn and grow within the geotechnical and environmental drilling industry.  Typical schedule is 30-84 hours/week as it depends on booked projects.

As a minimum Drill Assistants must:

  • Reside in the lower mainland;
  • Possess at least a valid Class 5/ 7 Driver’s License and reliable transportation;
  • Be physically capable of regular and repetitive lifts;
  • Have basic mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair small equipment;
  • Have experience working in the field, in remote and/ or varied weather conditions for extended periods of time, and;
  • Have a positive attitude, be self-motivated and the willingness to work hard.

Geotech is seeking Experienced Drill Assistants for projects across Western and Northern Canada.  This is an excellent opportunity for you to grow your skills within the geotechnical, environmental and exploration drilling industries.  Typical schedule is 30-84 hours/week as it depends on booked projects.  Valid Driver’s License is preferred.

Responsibilities include:

  • Handling drill rods, casing, core tubes and core samples
  • Loading/off-loading supplies
  • Handling tooling/consumables
  • Assisting an experienced driller where required

As a minimum the Drill Assistant must:

  • 2+ years experience in exploration, geotechnical or environmental drilling;
  • Be physically capable of regular and repetitive lifts;
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening:
  • Have basic mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair small equipment, pumps and generators;
  • Have experience working in the field, in remote and/ or varied weather conditions for extended periods of time, and;

Job Duties:

  • Perform repair and maintenance on diesel engines, electronic systems and hydraulic units of heavy equipment
  • Inspect and test to detect faults and malfunctions in drill units, diesel compressors, hydraulic support equipment, high pressure water pumps
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on heavy equipment
  • Service attachments and working tools
  • Verify and repair emission control systems

Job Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience with industrial heavy equipment including hydraulic equipment, diesel engines and compressors, high-pressure water pumps, drill units, diesel trucks, crawlers, and pumps
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to diligently organize work, make decisions, and set priorities

Project Manager/ Engineer- Prince George, BC

Geotech’s Technical Services Company, Gregg Drilling and Testing Canada Ltd., (Gregg) are actively seeking a Prince George or lower mainland based Project Manager/Engineer as part of our Gregg Drilling expansion. This individual will be responsible for leading a technical geotechnical/environmental investigations services division.  They will be well versed in various geotechnical investigation techniques as well as CPT.  Gregg offers an equitable and empowering work environment with a competitive salary and benefit package.
