Drill Assistant- Western Canada

Geotech is seeking motivated Drill Assistants for projects across Western and Northern Canada.  This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn and grow within the geotechnical, environmental and exploration drilling industries.  Typical schedule is 30-84 hours/week as it depends on booked projects.  Valid Driver’s License is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities include: Handling drill rods, casing, core tubes and core samples

  • Loading/off-loading supplies
  • Handling tooling/consumables
  • Assisting an experienced driller where required

As a minimum the Drill Assistant must:

  • Be physically capable of regular and repetitive lifts;
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening:
  • Have basic mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair small equipment, pumps and generators;
  • Have experience working in the field, in remote and/ or varied weather conditions for extended periods of time, and;
  • Have a positive attitude, be self-motivated and the willingness to work hard.

Accountant- Prince George

Geotech is looking for a motivated Accountant to join our growing team!  The Accountant assists in identifying and implementing best practices in historical financial reporting, control and compliance. The Accountant will provide a variety of accounting functions with precision and timeliness. The Accountant will assist the entire accounting team including AR, AP and payroll as well as assist with the preparation of interim and annual financial statements, analysis and audits. The Accountant will need to demonstrate top-notch financial reporting, systems, control and an ability to work with others across the organization (even where they do not have direct control of resources) in order to deliver improvements on time and on budget.

Accountant Responsibilities: 

  • Performing a variety of financial tasks from start to finish everything from data entry to reporting to financial analysis
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly reporting packages, budgeting, forecasting and trend analysis
  • Assist in preparation of timely and accurate financial statements
  • Performing full cycle accounting
  • Preparing and entering journal entries and adjusting entries
  • Maintaining and ensuring the data integrity of various management reports
  • Performing monthly account reconciliations and maintain general ledgers
  • Recommending enhancements to existing reporting processes
  • Addressing day-to-day accounting related queries or issues
  • Assist in maintaining the Drilling Rig Schedule
  • Assist in annual budgets
  • Assist Accounting Manager, AP, AR and payroll where required
  • Other ad hoc duties as required


  • Accounting Degree or Diploma and 2+ years of applicable experience
  • Working towards CPA designation preferred
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask
  • Excellent Excel skills are critical
  • Experience with Sage 50 and Microsoft Dynamics NAV are considered strong assets
  • Experience working in a project based working environment considered an asset
  • Willingness to support accounting team at all levels from data entry to full cycle accounting

Geotech is seeking an experienced Sonic Driller for geotechnical, hydrogeological and environmental projects throughout the lower mainland, all of British Columbia and into the territories.  Our recently expanded sonic fleet requires competent staff to operate and maintain it.  The successful candidate will be an experienced leader in the field, posses motivation to deliver a superior service and adhere to all H&S requirements and Provincial Legislation.  Competitive wages and benefits offered.

Job Duties:

  • Perform repair and maintenance on diesel engines, electronic systems and hydraulic units of heavy equipment
  • Inspect and test to detect faults and malfunctions in drill units, diesel compressors, hydraulic support equipment, high pressure water pumps
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on heavy equipment
  • Service attachments and working tools
  • Verify and repair emission control systems

Job Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience with industrial heavy equipment including hydraulic equipment, diesel engines and compressors, high-pressure water pumps, drill units, diesel trucks, crawlers, and pumps
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to diligently organize work, make decisions, and set priorities
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clean driver’s abstract
  • Complete and pass a pre-employment drug test
