Experienced Drill Assistant- Prince George, BC

Geotech is seeking Experienced Drill Assistants for upcoming projects across Western and Northern Canada.  We are looking for candidates based in the Western provinces or “Northern territories. This is an excellent opportunity for you to grow your skills within the geotechnical, environmental and exploration drilling industries.  Valid Driver’s License is preferred.

Responsibilities include:

  • Handling drill rods, casing, core tubes and core samples
  • Loading/off-loading supplies
  • Handling tooling/consumables
  • Assisting an experienced driller where required

As a minimum the Drill Assistant must:

  • 2+ years experience in exploration, geotechnical or environmental drilling;
  • Be physically capable of regular and repetitive lifts;
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening:
  • Have basic mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair small equipment, pumps and generators;
  • Have experience working in the field, in remote and/ or varied weather conditions for extended periods of time, and;
  • Have a positive attitude, be self-motivated and the willingness to work hard.

Accounts Payable Clerk- Prince George, BC

Geotech is looking for a capable Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team for an 18 month Maternity leave coverage! Must be a self-starter who takes initiative in their day to day schedule. This dynamic role involves working closely with the accounting team of 8 to successfully handle everything from data entry to full cycle accounts payable. You will be involved in posting, processing cheques and liaising with vendors in regards to invoicing.  It requires an individual with ambition and the confidence to manage the workload of an ever-changing project based group of companies.

Qualifications required:

  • 2+ years of applicable AP experience
  • Accounting degree or diploma considered a strong asset
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Class 1 Driver/ Lowbed Driver- Prince George, BC

Geotech is seeking a motivated Class 1 Driver to join our growing team. This position is suited to someone who not only enjoys driving across the beautiful landscapes of Western Canada but also enjoys balance in their work. As we are a project based business with a diverse fleet of drill rigs and equipment, every day is different. The primary function is low bedding to drill programs on and off road but you will also help out in the yard and on site where required. This is NOT your typical driving job!

Pay is based on experience. $30-33/hour + Overtime after 40 hrs a week.  $150 LOA per night when in the truck sleeper.  Other perks and benefits available.

Ideally candidates will have experience in or ability to:

  • Professional driving (Class 1 vehicles with Air Brakes)
  • Loading and securing equipment and supplies for transport
  • On/off road lowbed hauling across Western Canada
  • Filling out appropriate paperwork including inspections and logbooks
  • Operating hand-held tools and offloading equipment as required
  • Assisting Fleet and Operations staff as required
  • Adhering to all Geotech policies including the National Safety Code (NSC)

Ideally applicants will have:

  • At least 3 years’ of successful Class 1 driving including off road/forestry road experience
  • Heavy equipment hauling and loading experience
  • Ability to organize work, make decisions, and set priorities
  • Strong knowledge of the NSC and documentation including the use of logbooks
  • Knowledge of the drilling industry considered an asset

Exploration Project Manager- Prince George, BC

Geotech Exploration is actively looking for an experienced Exploration Project Manager to join our team in Prince George. We are looking for an energetic, professional, solution minded individual, with extensive experience in the diamond drilling industry.  This individual will work closely with our senior management team to help grow and improve our exploration services.

Duties:

The Exploration Project Manager (PM) is accountable for all aspects of Geotech exploration projects from their inception to execution. This includes planning, execution, managing employees, resources, costs, scheduling and scope of projects. The PM is also accountable for communicating with all appropriate stakeholders involved with projects (i.e. clients, management, employees, operations, shop, human resources (HR), health and safety (H&S), First Nations and regulators as appropriate, etc.).

The PM is responsible for the technical quality and implementation of procedures completed by their team and is responsible for ensuring the appropriate training and technical support is available. The PM is also responsible for ensuring that all members of their team, comply with all the company’s HR and H&S policies, technical and administrative procedures, contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.

This role includes leading and coaching team members, supervisors and other employees as required. The PM must ensure that all team members agreed-to goals and objectives are achieved in accordance with their team’s and the company’s expectations and policies/procedures.

The role also has responsibility for developing business relationships and increasing profitable sales revenue for the company and its subsidiaries.

Qualifications:

Candidates will possess the following skills and expertise:

  • 8+ years’ drilling/supervising on Exploration drill programs.
  • Strong interest and preferably experience in project management, business development and client relations.
  • Strong understanding of deadlines and budgets.
  • Well connected in the Canadian exploration industry with the drive to help grow, expand and continuously improve the division.
  • Heli-portable and skid mounted drill program experience including set up and tear down.
  • Proven ability to meet client targets safely and on time.
  • Strong health and safety consciousness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel and ability to use other project management software.
  • Demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, problem solve and prioritize work.
  • Ability to coach, train and manage staff.
  • Ability to travel to support projects and business development as required.

Hours of Work:

While it is understood the time requirements for this position will be variable throughout the year, it is expected that the majority of the work scheduled will be completed from the Prince George office Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; however, will require travel for field/client visits and business trips, often extending up to seven days at a time regularly throughout the year.  Flexibility in work schedule is to be expected to ensure the requirements of the position are met, including weekends and holidays.

General Accountant- Prince George, BC

Geotech is looking for a General Accountant to join their growing team! The General Accountant assists in identifying and implementing best practices in historical financial reporting, control and compliance. The General Accountant will provide a variety of accounting functions with precision and timeliness. The General Accountant will assist the entire accounting team including AR, AP and payroll as well as assist with the preparation of interim and annual financial statements, analysis and audits. The General Accountant will need to demonstrate top-notch financial reporting, systems, control and an ability to work with others across the organization (even where they do not have direct control of resources) in order to deliver improvements on time and on budget.

General Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Performing a variety of financial tasks from start to finish, everything from data entry to reporting to financial analysis
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly reporting packages, budgeting, forecasting and trend analysis
  • Assist in preparation of timely and accurate financial statements
  • Performing full cycle accounting
  • Preparing and entering journal entries and adjusting entries
  • Maintaining and ensuring the data integrity of various management reports
  • Performing monthly account reconciliations and maintain general ledgers
  • Recommending enhancements to existing reporting processes
  • Addressing day-to-day accounting related queries or issues
