Drill Assistants: Western Canada

Geotech is currently seeking Drill Assistants for programs across Western Canada and into the Territories.

As a minimum Drill Assistants must:

  • 1+ years as a drill assistant in exploration, geotechnical or environmental drilling;
  • Possess at least a valid Class 5/ 7 Driver’s Licence;
  • Be physically capable of regular and repetitive lifts;
  • Have basic mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair small equipment;
  • Have experience working in the field, in remote and/ or varied weather conditions for extended periods of time, and;

Have a positive attitude, be self-motivated and the willingness to work hard.

Class 1 Driver/ Fleet Technician: Prince George, BC

Geotech is seeking a motivated Class 1 Driver/Fleet Technician. This position is suited to someone who not only enjoys driving across the beautiful landscapes of Western Canada but also enjoys balance in their work. As we are a project based business with a diverse fleet of drill rigs and equipment, everyday is different. The primary function is low bedding to drill programs on and off road but you will also help out in the yard and on site where required. This is NOT your typical driving job!

Ideally candidates will have experience or ability to:

  • Professional driving (Class 1 vehicles with Air Brakes)
  • Loading and securing equipment and supplies for transport
  • On/off road lowbed hauling across Western Canada
  • Filling out appropriate paperwork including inspections and logbooks
  • Operating hand-held tools and offloading equipment as required
  • Assisting Fleet and Operations staff as required
  • Adhering to all Geotech policies including the National Safety Code (NSC)

Ideally applicants will have:

  • At least 5 years’ of successful Class 1 driving including off road/forestry road experience
  • Heavy equipment hauling and loading experience
  • Ability to organize work, make decisions, and set priorities
  • Strong knowledge of the NSC and documentation including the use of logbooks
  • Knowledge of the drilling industry considered an asset
  • An excellent driving record with references

 Heavy Duty Mechanic: Prince George, BC

Geotech is looking for a motivated Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our growing company!  The ideal candidate thrives in a diverse working environment as we have a wide range of track/truck mounted drill equipment, trucks, morookas, argos, compressors, pumps and miscellaneous machinery used for mining and construction projects.  You will work with a solid team in an industry that is fast paced, interesting and cutting edge!

Say goodbye to boring repetitive trailer repairs and check out what it’s like to work on a remote-controlled drilling rig!

Candidates must have experience or ability to:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, electronic systems and hydraulic units;
  • Inspect and test drill units, diesel compressors, large/small trucks, hydraulic support equipment, high pressure water pumps, diagnose faults and malfunctions, repair and replace mechanical units;
  • Willingness to jump in where required and use problem solving abilities to meet deadlines;
  • Keep a positive attitude and be open to learning new things.

Applicants must have:

  • At least three years of successful industrial experience with hydraulic equipment, operations and mechanical maintenance;
  • Able to diligently organize work, make decisions, and set priorities;
  • Drivers’ License;
  • Welding is considered an asset, but not a requirement.

Pay: Based on experience. Red Seal Mechanics earn $32-37/hr including full benefit package from start.

Schedule: 4 on 3 off.
